The story
Chappell Roan was signed by Atlantic at seventeen, dropped at twenty-two, and spent the interval working day jobs while writing The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess with producer Dan Nigro. Released independently in 2023, it built slowly through drag-inflected live shows and word of mouth until 'Good Luck, Babe!' and 'Pink Pony Club' broke wide in 2024. She won Best New Artist the following year.
