The story
Shakira built a substantial rock career in Spanish across Latin America before Laundry Service made her a global pop artist in 2001 — a crossover she executed without abandoning the Arabic-influenced melodic writing and the songwriting credits that had defined her earlier records. 'Hips Don't Lie' and the 2010 World Cup anthem 'Waka Waka' put her among the best-selling Latin artists of all time. She continues to release, most recently Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran in 2024.
