Carl Wilson was the lead guitarist and frequent lead vocalist of The Beach Boys. Considered to have one of the most beautiful voices in rock music, his vocal on "God Only Knows" is often cited as one of the greatest vocal performances ever recorded. Carl took on a leadership role in the band as Brian Wilson withdrew due to mental health issues. He passed away from lung cancer in 1998.
